Didn't remember how truly terrific this is...

I don't remember how we found this--I'm sure #1 could tell me. All my girls LOVE this video and after re-watching it today, I know why--it's GREAT!

Hope you enjoy it!

Here's the story,
of a short-haired lady;
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had longer hair,
than their mother.
The youngest one in curls.

Here's the story of guy who's handy.
Who had bitten off way more than he could chew.
There was no rest, from such a burden
He had all he could do.

Till the one day when they lady told this fellow,
that she knew that it was much more than hunch,
that if her stall mats
were not put in soon,
his new chainsaw might meet the treehouse with a crunch!

I know the pentameter is a little off, but it's early and I spent two hours waiting for the tow truck to come pick up my rental van, that I got because the lunatic on the cell phone hit my truck when I was coming home from vacation--oh, and my better half was on his way to Wisconsin. Thankfully, I have a spare truck at home and we had a lot of library books.

I have spent the last two months not blogging, but digging. I have planted 4,735 daylilies, gifted from a gifted-gardener friend. So now, I have flowers blooming out the ying-yang, and it's great! I'll try to post some pictures later...

We have also gained a dog and lost a cat...(tears and sadness). Little Darcy is gone from us. I cannot help but suspect the nefarious coyote or fox, although she was not a wanderer. It could have even been a racoon. Darcy was a great climber, loving to get on our giant roof. But a racoon could certainly have followed her. She would not be kept in either. She wanted outside in a bad way, but would come in in the evening when we called.

Our new dog is a smooth-collie. If you google tri-color smooth collie, you'll see a picture that looks just like her. Great dog, more to come on this.

I also promise to post my cousin's recipe for butterfinger dessert--yikes!

The hair report: I have more hair than my dad, but less than my husband. And no weird color change--so disappointing to my girls.

Menu Plan Monday

Yeah, yeah, I'm at it again; hoping for better luck since MIL got 8-10 stones taken out of her common bile duct, even though they removed her gall bladder SIX YEARS AGO! So, now that the 4H Fair, Ryan's wedding and MIL's common bile duct are all taken care of and over with, I might be able to get my life on track again...

Before we left for the wedding-to-end-all-weddings (as my mother thought of it), I spent several Ulysses S. Grants at Costco on all sorts of good stuff, so I should be able to put it together. Handyman is gone tonight and I am just starting to feel the Ford logo leaving my behind; so tonight it's Personal Pizzas from Costco in the oven-o!

Tuesday: That old summer standby: Tuna Macaroni Salad with Ritz and Triscuits. Have I mentioned that my family, particularly Handyman and I are addicted to Triscuits, in all their glorious flavors? It is pretty common for me to spend $10+ on Triscuits at a time--this is when I can get them on sale. We particularly like SHARP cheddar cheese on Cracked Black Pepper Triscuits, or Fire-roasted Tomato Triscuits or Rosemary and Olive Oil Triscuits. #3 likes the Roasted Garlic. But I digress...

Wednesday: I'm guessing #2 and #1 will not eat Tuesday's supper, so I'll fix Salmon Patties and french Fries for Wednesday. They are quick, and I find it strange, but all my kids like them. I will throw in a product endorsement for Kirkland (Costco again!)brand Balsamic Vinegar. It is very superior to anything I've bought at the grocery. Of course, it comes in a vat (not really), so there's enough to feed a large Italian family for a decade.

Thursday: #1 will be at her 1836 interpretive post all day, so that means FAMISHED. I think I'll whip up one of her faves, Mexican Lasagna from Saving Dinner. I do add some stuff to it, like hominy. But now that #2 has decided that red spaghetti sauce is not poisonous, maybe she'll try it.

Friday: I'm going for something on the grill here. Handyman should be home, so think picnic food...

I picked several cherry tomatoes and one smallish tomato (THE FIRST ONE!) today! Hallelujah! I sliced it and had it on a bagel with bacon bits and Aunt Jane's Crazy Salt! Summer has officially begun! I wanted to take a picture of it to post, but I shot so many pictures at the wedding that my camera batteries gave up the ghost. I gotta get some batteries and upload to (sorry) Costco for printing.

My friend/housesitter's kids somehow missed the zucchini the size of a Prius in the garden. My kids were lauging because I like bigger zucchini--not those pansies they sell at the grocery. I slice them and fry them and I want them to be fairly sizeable, so I always say, "Let's leave it one more day." And by the next day, it requires a 4WD to haul it out of the garden.

Sick of winter

I know, I know, I say it a lot. I hate winter and I'm not to keen on this state. I have lived in this state, mostly, since 2nd grade and I just feel no loyalty to it. It isn't beautiful. It is completely inconsistent weather-wise and it doesn't seem to have the best of any world.

It is my strong desire to move away from here for our retirement, if not before. I want to go to southern Virginia, or North Carolina and I might consider Tennessee, haven't look into that too much. I would like to be able to get to the ocean in a reasonable time. At least hurricanes give you several days warning! My MIL told me last night, "don't move to TN, all those people just got killed in tornados." I asked her if she had ever known anyone who's been killed in a tornado? "No." Well, I don't think I can write off an entire state because they had some folks killed in a tornado--especially since we had tornado warnings here, LAST WEEK!! In February!

Only in this ridiculous state can you have 55 degree days, 0 degree days, snow storm warning, flooding and thunderstorms in a 10-day period. Absolutely ridiculous. No wonder my parents went to FLORIDA for 7 WEEKS and want to move there.

To make me feel better on this Monday morning, I will post pictures of my garden site, which instills hope in my shrunken-frozen heart:

Doesn't that just get you excited for spring?? Me neither.

Have I mentioned that my husband is gone. He will get home tonight, hopefully before the snowstorm. Need I remind you that I have four dogs, three cats, two daughters and a teenage girl who is sure she's adopted, and two chickens living in this house!

I think it's obvious that I haven't made coffee yet this morning. Oh, I hear a rooster crowing--in my kitchen!
